About The
Expedition

Satopanth Lake is a glacial lake in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, situated 25 km from Badrinath at an altitude of 4,600 m. The holy triangular-shaped lake has a perimeter of 1 km, and it is believed that the Hindu trinity — Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh — meditate at its three corners. The snow-covered peaks of Neelkanth, Chaukhamba and Balakun loom over its crystalline waters, creating one of the most spiritually charged landscapes in the Himalayas. The trek starts from the sacred town of Badrinath and follows the right bank of the Alaknanda River through birch forests, glacial streams and ancient moraine fields — a pilgrimage as much of the spirit as of the body.

Guide Note

Challenging terrain with moraines and boulder fields. Good fitness and prior high-altitude experience required.
